Gradebook Settings

Admin-only NFC and time clock controls

Branding

Set the name, accent color, organization text, and logo used across Gradebook pages.

Loading branding...

Optional. Used in the sidebar/header branding.

Optional image or video used behind the login box. Uploading a file replaces the background link.

Use a direct image/video link. Leave blank to use the uploaded local file.

NFC Scan Delay

Control server-side duplicate scan protection. ESP32 readers do not need to be reflashed.

Loading settings...

Uncheck this for reader testing or immediate repeated scans.

Seconds. Set to 0 to allow immediate repeated scans.

Select a box in the preview, drag it, or type exact values. Label Width only affects the Student details labels/colon alignment.

Assignment Category Weights

Set the assignment categories and how much each category counts toward the class grade. Percentages must total 100% to enable weighted grading. Set all percentages to 0 to use normal points-based grading. A category can also be linked to attendance from the time card.

Loading assignment categories...

Cohort Styles

Define a reusable sequence of classes and how long each one runs, in weeks or days. On the Cohorts tab of Grades, pick a style and a start date and the system calculates every class's date range for that cohort automatically instead of entering each one by hand.

Loading cohort styles...

Availability

Temporarily replace selected pages with a work-in-progress screen for staff and student accounts. Admins can still open the page shell.

Loading work-in-progress settings...

When enabled, staff and students will see an unavailable page. Administrators keep access.

Use if the timecard module needs to be temporarily hidden from non-admins.

Test Network Restriction

Require students to be connected to this school's network to take a test. The server periodically re-checks its own public IP address so this can't get stuck on a stale value if the school's internet connection is assigned a new IP.

Loading test network settings...

When enabled, a student can only load, save progress on, or submit a test while their connection's public IP matches this server's public IP - i.e. only while physically on the school's network.

Messages Visibility

Hide the Messages tab from every staff and student account. Administrators always keep access. Check specific people below to let them keep using Messages even while it's hidden from everyone else.

Loading messages visibility settings...

When enabled, only administrators and anyone checked below can open Messages.

Loading people...

Auto-Lock

Locks the app with a password/Google sign-in prompt after this many minutes of inactivity. Applies to every signed-in account.

Loading auto-lock settings...

1 to 480 minutes.

Google Sheets Punch Sync

Automatically sends NFC punch rows to a Google Apps Script webhook that appends them into a Google Sheet.

Loading Google Sheets sync...

Punches are saved locally first, then queued for sync. Google outages will not block scans.

The Apps Script will create/use this tab.

Deploy the Apps Script as a web app, then paste the /exec URL here.

Must match SECRET_KEY in the Apps Script. Leave blank when saving later to keep the current secret.

Data Storage Location

Controls where Gradebook stores punches, students, settings, grades, timecards, and NFC reader data.

Loading data folder...

Current default is H:\data. The app will create missing Gradebook files in the folder. Make sure the account running the EXE has read/write access.

Backups

Creates ZIP backups of the active data folder. Scheduled backups run every Friday at midnight while the app is running.

Loading backup folder...

Current default is H:\backup. Backups are saved as GradebookBackup_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm-ss.zip.

Loading backups...

Timecard Exceptions

Red triangles appear when a punch is too early or too late compared to the scheduled shift.

Minutes before scheduled start. Example: 5 flags 7:54 AM or earlier for an 8:00 AM start.

Minutes after scheduled start. Example: 5 flags 8:06 AM or later for an 8:00 AM start.

Auto Punch-Out

Automatically punch out anyone still clocked in at a set time each day. Disabled by default.

When enabled, anyone still punched in at the time below is automatically punched out.

Time of day (local time) to automatically punch out anyone still clocked in.
